Wanted: temp home for piano

We are musicians who just moved here from Bushwick and have a piano that we can't bring into our apartment. It is a simple upright that is a well used but healthy piano. Before banishing it to storage we are brainstorming on how to keep it more active. Ideas include renting a basement/garage/studio space as kind of piano rehearsal place or perhaps doing an exchange where someone will put it in their home/venue etc... and can play it and we can maybe play it sometimes also.
Please let me know if anyone has ideas or possible solutions. We are not selling it or giving it away at this time. We are planning to move it within the next week.
Thanks!

FS: Two Sporn no-pull dog harnesses

Hi. We have two really nice Sporn no-pull harnesses, barely used. They're very soft and do a great job of keeping your dog from pulling. I think ours are either the medium or large size -- one was for our beagle/basset mix (about 40 lbs.), and the other was for our dalmatian-sized mutt (about 50 lbs.)

The pictures below are from the sporn website. The ones we have are in perfect condition. We're selling them for twenty bucks each, but if you buy both together, we'll knock five bucks off the price.  Thanks!

FS: iCurve laptop stand - $20

Hi.  We're cleaning out our apartment and we have an old iCurve laptop stand.  It's been around the block, but it's unbroken and still totally functional.  Thanks!

FS: JanSport traveling/hiking backpack - $40

This is a great traveling backpack that we've hardly ever used. It's approximately 28" tall, give or take, and it has a smaller daypack that zips on to it. The straps are comfortable, too, so lugging it around isn't such a chore, and it really holds a ton of stuff. It's 100% nylon and hunter green.

If you have any questions or would like to see pictures, comment below

FS: Dockers upright spinner suitcase - $50

We're selling a 31" upright Dockers-brand four-wheeled spinner bag. It's about a foot deep when expanded and holds a ton of stuff. It's great if you have kids -- not just for the volume, but also because it's so easy to move with the four wheels.

Anyway, it's greenish-brown and in great shape. I paid around $200 for it two or three years ago, and we're asking $50. We're on Cortelyou in Kensington/Ditmas Park. If you have any questions or would like to see pictures, comment below

Wanted: Community Organic Garden

I'm looking for a few people who are interested in starting a community organic garden in (preferably) or around the Kensington neighborhood. People who are interested should be prepared to help find a public space (an empty lot) to rent, possibly help with small fund raising, and should have a good healthy love of gardening. All are welcome to be a part of this, regardless of age, race, gender, religious background, it doesn't; both the novice and seasoned gardener are welcome! I've never tried to organize anything like this so if you have past experience with this or something similar all the better, if not well figure it out together.

Wanted: Good handyman

Anyone know of a good (realiable please!) handyman in the area willing to do small jobs on weekends or after work hours? Things like wiring a chandelier, small patch up jobs, proper hanging of things on plaster walls? I have found it next to impossible to find someone to do small jobs as they don't want to waste time on such work. But as a single apt. owner, having a handy man is essential. Preferably, someone who has a good grasp of english please. Recommendations welcome!

Services: Thinking about learning Piano?

Are you or your children considering studying piano?

I am a Kensington resident with a piano teaching studio right here in the neighborhood. I already teach a number of local children and adults and am looking to expand my studio. I am one of the most experienced teachers in Brooklyn with over fifteen years of experience and am the only local piano teacher with a Ph.D. in music and significant college-level teaching experience. I can teach any style, but I also provide all my students with a comprehensive education in all aspects and styles of music, including basic improvisation skills. And for adult students, whether you studied as a kid or never played before, consider learning from someone who has made a specialty of teaching adults to play piano and read music. I am willing to provide the flexibility working adults need: I do not insist on a regular weekly schedule nor on rigid lesson times, and compared to any other teacher, I am very generous in regard to last-minute cancellations and rescheduling.

Please check out my website for details and contact information, which is listed on the Kensington Blog as BrooklynPianoLessons.com

Wanted: Ukulele

Events: Fundraiser for Josh Skaller (D-NY)

Looking for something to do this Wednesday night, January 7th? Why not venture over to the home of one of our Kensington neighbors, Allison Make, who will be holding a house party and fundraiser for Josh Skaller, Democratic candidate for City Council (replacing Bill deBlasio). Perhaps you had a chance to meet Josh briefly at the Kensington Festivus party!

In addition to playing a key role organizing support for President-elect Obama in Brooklyn, Josh is a recent past President of Central Brooklyn Independent Democrats (CBID), one of the most admired political reform groups in the city. He also serves as a board member and field director of Democracy for New York City. Read more about his campaign here: http://www.skaller09.com/index.php

Because Josh wants to return government to its rightful owners, he has not taken ANY money from lobbyists, PACs, or big developers, which is why he needs our help! Every contribution, regardless of amount, will be most welcome.

Refreshments will be served!

For further information, and to RSVP, please contact Allison at allison.make@gmail.com.
