Wanted: Community Organic Garden

I'm looking for a few people who are interested in starting a community organic garden in (preferably) or around the Kensington neighborhood. People who are interested should be prepared to help find a public space (an empty lot) to rent, possibly help with small fund raising, and should have a good healthy love of gardening. All are welcome to be a part of this, regardless of age, race, gender, religious background, it doesn't; both the novice and seasoned gardener are welcome! I've never tried to organize anything like this so if you have past experience with this or something similar all the better, if not well figure it out together.

  2. Have you checked out the existing East 4th Street Community Garden?

  3. I've been there and it's just simply a beautiful garden. I've been on the waiting list for a plot space before and just never had anyone get back to me. I've been growing on my fire escape (illegally) for a long time, and my attempts to get rooftop access from my landlord have fallen flat every year. I desperately want some space to grow and there is no reason we can have two community gardens right? This sounds like a wonderful idea to me, how many people have got involved with this project? My husband and I very interested in this.

  4. I have had similar experiences as a frustrated apt gardener (i.e. growing in pots on fireplace, roofto, etc). My wife and I are also definitely interested.
